Because chimney sweeping is an industry that not many people know detailed information about, we receive many commonly asked questions
from customers. Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions:
A. Over time and with use, chimneys can become damaged, causing them to no longer conform to building codes under which they were constructed. Masonry chimneys are exposed to the elements, and therefore deteriorate. Prefabricated fireplaces are highly susceptible to water penetration and misuse.
A. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), you should have your chimney inspected annually.
A. Annual Chimney Services offers a no-mess guarantee. We understand that your home is your sanctuary and promise to treat your property with utmost respect.
A. Yes, because we sweep the fireplace, woodstove flue, or dryer vent from inside and outside your home.
A. We lay white tarps in front of your fireplace or stove to ensure that nothing gets on your floor or furniture. We then roll in an industrial chimney sweep vacuum to control any dust and debris. Then, we do the sweep itself, from the top down, or from the bottom up, depending on access. We use flexible extension rods and the correct size brush to sweep the flue. All debris from the chimney is contained within the firebox, which we shovel and dispose of.
A. Yes. Smoke problems can occur for several reasons. The fireplace may have a poor draw; smoke may travel to other parts of the house through gaps in the liner; or the wind sometimes blows down the flue. These are typically the most common reasons that smoke backs up into your house, and Annual Chimney Services can help you fix this problem.
